21-Hydroxyisoohchininolide is a salannin-type limonoid that inhibits nitric oxide production in LPS-induced mouse macrophages. It exhibits cytotoxic activity against leukemia and breast cancer cells. Additionally, 21-Hydroxyisoohchininolide suppresses Epstein-Barr virus early antigen activation in lymphocytes induced by Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (TPA). | In vitro | 21-Hydroxyisoohchininolide (1-100 μM; 48 h) exhibits cytotoxicity against HL60 human leukemia cells (IC50 = 22.7 μM) and SK-BR-3 human breast cancer cells (IC50 = 91.5 μM), but shows no cytotoxicity against A549 human lung cancer and AZ521 human gastric cancer cells after 48 hours of treatment. Additionally, at concentrations ranging from 1-100 μM for 18 hours, it inhibits LPS-induced nitric oxide production in RAW 264.7 mouse macrophages with an IC50 of 87.3 μM, without cytotoxic effects after 16 hours of LPS co-incubation. Furthermore, 21-Hydroxyisoohchininolide suppresses TPA-induced EBV-EA activation in Raji cells, achieving an IC50 with a molar ratio of 493 relative to 32 pmol TPA, maintaining 60% cell viability at a maximal test molar ratio of 1000:1. |
