Tricin 7-O-glucoside is a naturally occurring flavonoid with antidepressant and anxiolytic properties that increases the activity time of mice in the forced swim test. It protects the brain by attenuating brain I/R damage and attenuating blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption, decreasing HMGB1 and NF-κB signaling pathways.

| Description | Tricin 7-O-glucoside is a naturally occurring flavonoid with antidepressant and anxiolytic properties that increases the activity time of mice in the forced swim test. | In vivo | Methods: The organic fraction (PcEA) was obtained from the hydroalcoholic extract of the aerial parts of P. coriacea and then subjected to chemical analysis and separation to obtain six fractions (PcEA, T1, T2, T1.1, T2.1 and T2.2). Male ICR mice were used to determine the antidepressant activity of the selected treatments (PcEA, T1, T2 and T1.1) based on the forced swim test (FST). The anxiolytic-like effects of various treatments (PcEA, T1, T2, T2.1 and T2.2) were determined using the elevated plus maze (EPM) test. Results: The organic fraction of P. coriacea reduced the anxiety-like behavior of mice and increased the activity time in the FST. After chemical separation, two compounds with antidepressant activity and anxiolytic-like effects were isolated from the species, namely T1.1 (Tricin 7-O-glucoside) and T2.2 (harmane). [1] |
