Muscimol hydrochloride is the salt form of Muscimol, the main psychoactive component of Amanita muscaria, a potent and selective GABAA receptor agonist and partial GABAC receptor agonist, with no activity on GABAB receptors. | In vivo | Methods: In separate experiments, guinea pigs were pretreated with the selective GABAA antagonist gabazine (3.75 mg/kg,iv) 10 min before control values of the intravenous acetylcholine-induced increase in Ppi were established; Muscimol hydrochloride (187 μg/kg,iv) was then administered 1 min before the subsequent intravenous acetylcholine challenge to investigate the effect of Muscimol hydrochloride on the increase in Ppi induced by intravenous acetylcholine. Results: Pretreatment with Muscimol hydrochloride (3.75–187 μg/kg) 1 min before the subsequent intravenous acetylcholine challenge significantly reduced the increase in Ppi induced by acetylcholine at each dose tested. Dissolve 2 mg of the compound in 100 μL DMSO
to obtain a stock solution at a concentration of 20 mg/mL . If the required concentration exceeds the compound's known solubility, please contact us for technical support before proceeding.
1) Add 100 μL of the DMSO
stock solution to 400 μL PEG300
and mix thoroughly until the solution becomes clear.
2) Add 50 μL Tween 80 and mix well until fully clarified.
3) Add 450 μL Saline,PBS or ddH2O
and mix thoroughly until a homogeneous solution is obtained.
