Description	α-Methyl-DL-aspartic acid serves as a specific inhibitor for the enzyme argininosuccinate synthase (ASS), which is the rate-limiting enzyme in the recycling pathway from 1-citrulline to 1-arginine [1].
In vitro	α-Methyl-dl-aspartic acid markedly diminishes the antihypertensive effects of Bj-BPP-10c in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) [2].
In vivo	α-Methyl-dl-aspartic acid (147 mg/kg, i.v.) can attenuate l-citrulline-induced retinal vasodilation in Wistar rats [1].
