| Description | Afegostat D-Tartrate is a pharmacological chaperone that binds specifically and reversibly with high affinity to acid-β-glucosidase (GCase) in the endoplasmic reticulum. |
| In vivo | Afegostat D-Tartrate enhances GCase activity in the brain, liver, and spleen. When administered orally at a dosage of 100 mg/kg to Thy1-aSyn mice for four months, Afegostat notably improves motor and non-motor functions, eliminates microglial inflammatory responses in the substantia nigra, diminishes α-synuclein immunoreactivity in nigral dopaminergic neurons, and adjusts the size distribution of α-synuclein aggregates by reducing small aggregates and augmenting larger ones. |
