Description
TBI-223 is an orally effective antibiotic and antibacterial agent active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It demonstrates efficacy against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections in mouse interference models and is applicable for tuberculosis research.
In vitro
In 7H9 medium, the half-maximal inhibitory concentration (MIC₅₀) values of TBI-223 against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium kansasii, MAC, and MAbC were 1.50 μg/mL, 2.00 μg/mL, 8.00 μg/mL, and 2.00 μg/mL, respectively [1].
In vivo
TBI-223 (80-160 mg/kg, orally administered twice daily for 7 days) achieved a 100% survival rate in the MRSA bacteremia model of C57BL/6 mice [2].
TBI-223 (80-160 mg/kg, orally administered twice daily for 7 days) significantly reduced the infected lesion area in the MRSA skin wound infection model of both non-diabetic C57BL/6 mice and diabetic TallyHo/JngJ mice [2].
TBI-223 (80-160 mg/kg, orally administered twice daily for 7 days) significantly decreased the bioluminescence imaging (BLI) signal intensity in the MRSA orthopedic implant-associated infection model of C57BL/6 mice, while also reducing the colony-forming unit (CFU) counts on joint tissues and implant surfaces [2].
