Description
Taprenepag isopropyl (PF-04217329) is a selective EP2 agonist and prodrug of CP-544326. Following ocular administration, it induces elevated cAMP levels and reduced intraocular pressure, rendering it suitable for treating glaucoma.
In vivo
Taprenepag isopropyl (0.75, 12, or 36 μg/day, instilled into the right eye twice daily for 28 days) demonstrated intraocular pressure-lowering effects in cynomolgus monkeys but also induced adverse reactions such as iritis, photophobia, and increased corneal thickness. These adverse reactions were reversible after discontinuation of the drug [1].
