SiR-Hoechst is a far-red fluorescent DNA probe commonly utilized for live-cell time-lapse imaging. It exhibits minimal toxicity even at concentrations as high as 10-25 µM. However, at concentrations significantly below 1 µM, SiR-Hoechst can induce a DNA damage response and G2 arrest.

| Description | SiR-Hoechst is a far-red fluorescent DNA probe commonly utilized for live-cell time-lapse imaging. It exhibits minimal toxicity even at concentrations as high as 10-25 µM. However, at concentrations significantly below 1 µM, SiR-Hoechst can induce a DNA damage response and G2 arrest. |
| In vitro | SiR-Hoechst offers several distinct advantages: it selectively binds to DNA, exhibits increased fluorescence upon DNA binding, is excited by far-red light, thereby avoiding UV damage associated with traditional Hoechst dyes, and is compatible with super-resolution microscopy of live cells. |
