| Description | Parsalmide is an orally active non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and gastroprotective agent, with an IC50 of 9.92 μM for COX-1 and 155 μM for COX-2. It helps prevent gastric damage and reduces edema, making it useful for arthritis research. |
| Targets & IC50 | COX-1 (ovine):9.92 μM |
| In vitro | Parsalmide (0.01 nM-0.1 mM; 45 min) effectively inhibits purified sheep COX-1 with an IC₅₀ of 9.92 μM and also inhibits purified sheep COX-2 with an IC₅₀ of 155 μM, demonstrating a 16-fold greater selectivity for COX-1 over COX-2. |
| In vivo | Parsalmide, administered orally in a single dose of 10-100 mg/kg, shows dose-dependent anti-inflammatory activity in carrageenan-induced edema in rats. At an effective dose of 100 mg/kg, Parsalmide does not cause acute gastric injury in rats. Additionally, a 100 mg/kg dosage of Parsalmide effectively prevents gastric damage induced by Indomethacin in rats. |
