| Description | Kokusaginine is a furoquinoline alkaloid that inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE) with an IC50 of 28.2 μM. Kokusaginine exhibits anti-proliferative and apoptosis-inducing effects in MCF-7/ADR cells and is utilized in biochemical research focused on cholinesterase inhibition, apoptosis regulation, and multidrug-resistant cancer cell signaling pathways. |
| In vitro | Methods:Human parental breast cancer cells and drug-resistant cell lines were treated with kokusaginine at concentrations of 0–30 μM and 6–24 μM. Tubulin polymerization, cell proliferation and apoptosis were detected, and the IC₅₀ values for proliferation inhibition were determined. Results:Kokusaginine at 0–30 μM inhibited tubulin polymerization and thereby arrested cell proliferation. The IC₅₀ values for MCF-7, MDA-MB-231, MCF-7/ADR and MDA-MB-231/ADR were 7.23 μM, 4.62 μM, 9.01 μM and 10.19 μM, respectively [2]. Within the concentration range of 6–24 μM, kokusaginine induced apoptosis in MCF-7 and its drug-resistant strain MCF-7/ADR in a dose-dependent manner [2]. |
