Bovine beta-1,4-galactosyltransferase 1 (Y289L) (Bovin B4GALT1 (Y289L)) is a mutated galactosyltransferase derived from cattle with a mutation at the Y289L gene locus. This enzyme labels O-GlcNAcylated proteins with an N-azidoacetylgalactosamine (GalNAz) group. This labeling technique enables specific, unbiased, and global tagging of O-GlcNAcylated proteins. After labeling, the attached azide group can react with various alkyne-modified chemical probes, facilitating a range of downstream analyses.
