S584 dihydrochloride is an orally active catechol metabolite of Piribedil, possessing anti-lipid peroxidation activity. It significantly inhibits lipid peroxidation in rat synaptosomes under both baseline conditions and Fe³⁺ stimulation. Furthermore, S584 dihydrochloride effectively counteracts the elevation of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) in the brains of mice exposed to hyperoxia and normal air.
