Zaltidine dihydrochloride (CP-5736 dihydrochloride), a specific H2 receptor antagonist, exhibits antisecretion properties by mitigating the effects of histamine on gastric acid secretion. By attaching to histamine H2 receptors on gastric parietal cells, it decreases gastric acid production. This compound is useful in research related to gastric acid-associated conditions like duodenal ulcers.
