Spilanthol, an orally active compound with analgesic, neuroprotective, antioxidant, antimutagenic, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and insecticidal properties, facilitates the induction of cAMP, thereby inhibiting the negative regulation of the urinary concentration mechanism. It is also utilized in diuretic research [1] [4] [5].

Spilanthol (50~150 μM, 24h) does not affect the viability of A549 human lung epithelial cells [3].

Spilanthol (1-1.875 mg/kg, IP, once) exhibited analgesic effects in male ICR mouse models induced by acetic acid writhing and capsaicin paw licking [2]. Spilanthol (30 mg/kg, orally, once daily for four days) protected against intestinal mucositis in Swiss mice induced by 5-Fluorouracil [4]. Additionally, Spilanthol (800 mg/kg, orally, administered once) acted as a diuretic in adult male C57BL/6J mice [5].
