| Description | N,N-dimethyldithiocarbamate potassium is an inhibitor of ubiquitin-activating enzyme E1. It blocks the activation of E1, reducing levels of activated ubiquitinated E1 (ub-E1). Additionally, N,N-dimethyldithiocarbamate potassium increases intracellular copper levels, enhances oxidative stress, elevates protein carbonyl levels, and upregulates the expression of HO-1. This compound is applicable in Parkinson's disease research. |
| In vitro | N,N-dimethyldithiocarbamate (potassium) at a concentration of 20 μM for 6 hours can inhibit the activation of ubiquitin-activating enzyme E1 in HEK293 cells, reducing the ub-E1/E1 ratio to 0.25 compared to controls. Additionally, N,N-dimethyldithiocarbamate potassium significantly increases the expression of heme oxygenase-1 protein, a marker of oxidative stress, and elevates copper levels within HEK293 cells. |
