N-Acetyl-D-mannosamine-13C is the carbon-13 labeled version of N-Acetyl-D-mannosamine. N-Acetyl-D-mannosamine (ManNAc) is a critical precursor to N-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuAc) and plays a role as a specific monomer of bacterial capsular polysialic acid (PA). It is metabolized into ManNAc-6-phosphate and GlcN through the actions of GNE and GlcNAc 2-epimerase (renin-binding protein, RnBP).
