Dimephosphon is an anti-inflammatory agent exhibiting both antihistamine and antiserotonin activities. It aids in maintaining spinal cord conduction function and reduces the excitability of motor neurons around lesion areas. Additionally, Dimephosphon directly stimulates lymph vessel movement, enhancing lymph circulation. This compound is useful for studying inflammatory edema, acute spinal cord injuries, and lymphatic circulation disorders.

| In vivo | Dimephosphin exhibits antihistamine and antiserotonin activities in paw edema models induced by injection of inflammatory mediators and modulators. The use of Dimephosphin (2.5% Dimephosphin solution, 1 mL, once daily for 10 days) has been shown to aid in the recovery of spinal conduction function in hybrid dogs with spinal injuries, potentially due to its anti-edema, vasoprotective properties, and reduction of neuronal over-excitability. Additionally, a single intraperitoneal dose of Dimephosphin (50 mg/kg) has been found to enhance lymphatic circulation in rats by directly stimulating the contraction of lymphatic vessels (targeting the muscle cells of the vessel wall and valves). |
