Description | Trevogrumab (REGN-1033) is a fully human monoclonal antibody specifically designed to target and inhibit the activity of growth differentiation factor 8 (GDF8), which is also known as myostatin and functions as a negative regulator of muscle growth;Trevogrumab is currently under extensive research of sarcopenia, a complex condition characterized by progressive and generalized loss of skeletal muscle mass and function often associated with aging, wasting atrophy, various chronic diseases, and significant alterations in dietary and nutritional intake. |
In vitro | Human skeletal myoblasts were treated with Trevogrumab (40 nM, 30 minutes), and the target protein levels were detected by Western Blot. Results: Trevogrumab effectively inhibited myostatin-induced Smad2/3 activation, showing high affinity and specificity. [1] |
In vivo | Trevogrumab (0.1-30 mg/kg, subcutaneously, twice a week for 4 weeks) treated mice resulted in a significant increase in gastrocnemius (GA) and tibialis anterior (TA) muscle weight (~20%) and an increase in myofiber area (~15%).[1] |
