Description | Platyconic Acid A, derived from changkil saponins extracted from platycodon grandiflorum, is a potent compound employed for studying the mitigation of airway inflammation. |
In vitro | Platyconic Acid A, at concentrations ranging from 0.5 to 2 μM and applied for 30 minutes to A549 cells, concentration-dependently inhibits PMA-induced phosphorylation of NF-κB p65, IκBα, and Akt, and the degradation of IκBα[1]. In addition, a 24-hour exposure to the same concentration range of Platyconic Acid A notably reduces PMA-induced MUC5AC mRNA expression in A549 cells, also in a concentration-dependent manner[1]. This is supported by Western Blot Analysis, which confirms the inhibition of NF-κB p65, IκBα phosphorylation and degradation, and Akt phosphorylation; and RT-PCR results demonstrating a decrease in MUC5AC mRNA expression under the specified conditions[1]. |
