It specifically inhibits HU-DNA binding, disrupts nucleoid architecture, and reduces Mtb growth. The stilbene inhibitors induce gene expression changes in Mtb akin to those caused by HU deficiency, indicating that HU is a potential target for the development of therapies against tuberculosis [1].
