Fetuin (Fetal Bovine Serum) is a glycoprotein purified from foetal bovine serum, primarily employed as an additive in cell culture to promote cell adhesion and growth. Fetuin is the protein product of the AHSG gene, naturally occurring in serum and extracellular fluids. It inhibits calcification and cysteinopeptidases, antagonises TGF-β, reduces insulin sensitivity, and more.

| In vitro | Fetuin (Fetal Bovine Serum) is commonly used as a key additive in serum-free culture media [2]. Fetuin (Fetal Bovine Serum) is an acidic glycoprotein containing three N-linked and three O-linked oligosaccharide chains. Its terminal sugar residues are rich in sialic acid (N-acetylneuraminic acid), thus carrying a net negative charge [3]. |
