Bioactivity

Description	Cefetamet is a third-generation cephalosporin and broad-spectrum antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis via PBP binding, effective against various Gram-negative pathogens.
Targets&IC50	PBP3:2.5 ug/mL
In vitro	Cefetamet shows potent activity against Enterobacteriaceae and S. pneumoniae (MIC90 <= 2 ug/mL), but exhibits low affinity for S. aureus PBPs and lacks activity against Enterococcus. It effectively induces the lysis and death of T. pallidum at low concentrations (0.05-0.1 ug/mL) within 24 hours [2][3][4].
In vivo	In vivo, Cefetamet (1-30 mg/kg, IM) cures experimental syphilis in rabbits, with optimal efficacy when administered early. Pharmacokinetic studies in dogs confirm that its oral prodrug is rapidly converted into the active form, providing effective systemic antibacterial coverage [1][4].

Dissolve 2 mg of the compound in 100 μL DMSO TargetMol | reagent to obtain a stock solution at a concentration of 20 mg/mL . If the required concentration exceeds the compound's known solubility, please contact us for technical support before proceeding.

Preparation of the In Vivo Formulation:

1) Add 100 μL of the DMSO TargetMol | reagent stock solution to 400 μL PEG300 and mix thoroughly until the solution becomes clear.

2) Add 50 μL Tween 80 and mix well until fully clarified.

3) Add 450 μL Saline,PBS or ddH₂O TargetMol | reagent and mix thoroughly until a homogeneous solution is obtained.
