Silane-PEG-N3 (MW 5000) (Silane-PEG-azide (MW 5000)) is a PEG derivative consisting of silane, PEG units, and an azide group. It can modify surfaces such as glass and silicon through the reaction of its hydroxyl group with ethoxy (methoxy) silane. The azide group of Silane-PEG-N3 allows it to undergo copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) with alkyne-containing molecules, and it can also participate in strain-promoted alkyne-azide cycloaddition (SPAAC) with molecules containing DBCO or BCN groups.
