Polyvinyl alcohol (Mw 85000–124000, 99+% hydrolyzed) is a polyvinyl compound with a molecular weight of 85000 to 124000, characterized by its hydrolysis properties. The degree of hydrolysis refers to the conversion rate of acetate groups in polyvinyl acetate to hydroxyl groups. This compound is obtained by polymerizing vinyl acetate and subsequently removing acetate groups through hydrolysis. Polyvinyl alcohol with varying degrees of hydrolysis is used for self-crosslinking to form cryogels and serves as a bioadditive.
