| Description | MDP1 acetate, a derivative of Melittin, compromises membrane integrity of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria leading to bacterial death through membrane damage. MDP1 acetate exhibits antibacterial activity against multidrug-resistant and reference strains of S. aureus, E. coli, and P. aeruginosa. MDP1 acetate is used in antimicrobial membrane biology research systems to investigate peptide-induced membrane disruption, bacterial permeability changes, and antimicrobial peptide mechanism profiling. |
| In vivo | Method: MDR Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were treated with melittin-derived peptides MDP1 and MDP2. Antibacterial activity was assessed along with DNA release, calcein release, flow cytometry, and SEM analysis of membrane damage. Result: MDP1 and MDP2 showed high antibacterial activity against MDR and reference bacterial strains. Both peptides induced time-dependent DNA and calcein release, and flow cytometry indicated time-dependent antibacterial effects. SEM showed dose- and time-dependent vesicle formation, pore formation, and cell lysis in S. aureus and E. coli. The peptides disrupted bacterial membrane integrity and killed bacteria via membrane damage. |

Dissolve 2 mg of the compound in 100 μL DMSO
to obtain a stock solution at a concentration of 20 mg/mL . If the required concentration exceeds the compound's known solubility, please contact us for technical support before proceeding.
1) Add 100 μL of the DMSO
stock solution to 400 µL PEG300
and mix thoroughly until the solution becomes clear.
2) Add 50 µL Tween 80 and mix well until fully clarified.
3) Add 450 µL Saline,PBS or ddH2O
and mix thoroughly until a homogeneous solution is obtained.
