Maftivimab is a human monoclonal antibody targeting the glycoprotein (GP) of Zaire ebolavirus (EBOV). It is important to note that Maftivimab is one of the three core components of the Inmazeb cocktail (comprising Atoltivimab, Maftivimab, and Odesivimab, which target distinct, non-overlapping epitopes). Maftivimab neutralizes viral virulence by specifically binding to the viral surface glycoprotein, effectively blocking the process of viral entry into host cells. It has been approved for the treatment of Zaire ebolavirus infection, showing significant efficacy in reducing mortality rates and clearing viral loads.
