U-104067 functions as a molecular probe to monitor and quantify various physical phenomena such as transfer to lipid membranes, distribution between surface phases, and distribution between lipid carriers and target membranes. U-104067 is sensitive to tilt/ripple phase transitions and can be tracked by changes in its fluorescence anisotropy and quantum yield.
