Iptriazopyrid (NC-656) is a triazole carboxamide herbicide that targets 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD). It exhibits a Ki value of 24.3 nM for Arabidopsis HPPD and 33.3 nM for rice HPPD. By inhibiting the synthesis of plastoquinone and carotenoids, Iptriazopyrid causes weed yellowing and death. It shows promise in research for controlling paddy field weeds such as barnyard grass.
