Description
Fura-2 pentasodium is a ratiometric fluorescent dye utilized for intracellular calcium ion imaging, with a Kd value of 140 nM. Its emission wavelength is 510 nm, and it features excitation wavelengths of 340 nm and 380 nm. The fluorescence intensity ratio of 340/380 is directly proportional to the intracellular Ca2+ (calcium ion) levels.
In vitro
Fura-2 (10 μM, 2 min) pentasodium is utilized for detecting calcium ion concentration fluctuations in heparinized peripheral blood neutrophils. Fura-2 pentapotassium (10 μM, 5 min) serves as a calcium probe to assess the distribution of calcium ions in cardiac mitochondria without affecting its activity in rats.
