| Description | Fluthiacet-methyl is an isoxazole herbicide and acts as a protoporphyrinogen oxidase (Protox) inhibitor. It suppresses chlorophyll biosynthesis in the cotyledons of Abutilon theophrasti and cotton. Fluthiacet-methyl can cause electrolyte leakage in cotyledons of sensitive plants like Abutilon theophrasti and cotton. It also induces protoporphyrin IX accumulation in cotton cotyledons. |
| In vitro | Fluthiacet-methyl induces electrolyte leakage in etiolated sida spinosa leaves (L 50 17 nM) and inhibits chlorophyll biosynthesis in these leaves (IC 50 10 nM). It also induces a dose-dependent accumulation of protoporphyrin IX in etiolated cotton cotyledons. When treated with fluthiacet-methyl (1 nM-100 μM; 60 min) using dithiothreitol as a reducing agent, it can inhibit protoporphyrinogen oxidase activity in etiolated maize leaves, with an IC 50 of 830 nM. |
