| Description | CTAP-1 is a monovalent copper ion probe that binds to copper Cu(I) to inhibit photoinduced electron transfer, thereby enhancing fluorescence emission. It produces copper-dependent perinuclear staining that colocalizes with mitochondria and Golgi apparatus. CTAP-1 is useful for imaging Cu(I) pools. |
| In vitro | CTAP-1 (10 μM; 50 min) labels the perinuclear, copper-dependent labile copper pool in NIH 3T3 fibroblasts. Its fluorescence intensity increases approximately 2 to 3 times in copper-supplemented medium and co-localizes with mitochondria and the Golgi apparatus. CTAP-1 (2 μM) in copper-loaded NIH 3T3 fibroblasts shows about a 50% decrease in fluorescence upon treatment with the exogenous Cu+ chelator DTO, confirming the copper dependency of the signal. |
