Description
Cobalt(II) ions probe 1 (Compound L) is a fluorescent sensor designed to detect Co2+ in biological environments. It selectively binds with Co2+ even in the presence of other metal ions, exhibiting a specific response (Ex: 380 nm).
In vitro
Cobalt(II) ions probe 1 exhibits minimal fluorescence in solution ("off" state). Upon the addition of Co 2+, coordination between Co 2+ and Cobalt(II) ions probe 1 inhibits PET and ICT processes, resulting in a strong localized emission in the blue wavelength region ("on" state).
