| Description | Cardiogen is a short-chain bioactive peptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Arg) that does not bind to single-stranded deoxyoligonucleotides. It can slightly quench the fluorescence of some double-stranded deoxyoligonucleotides and strongly quench the fluorescence of methylated and non-methylated λ phage DNA-ethidium bromide complexes. |
| In vitro | Cardiogen does not bind with single-stranded homogeneous oligonucleotides or GC-rich oligonucleotides, showing only a weak interaction with a singular double-stranded oligonucleotide (FAM-GCG GCG TGATCA GCG GCG), with a Stern-Volmer constant of 0.34 × 10 [4]. Cardiogen exhibits stronger binding interactions with both unmethylated and methylated λ phage DNA-EB complexes compared to other tested peptides, with Stern-Volmer constants of 3.0 × 10 [4] (unmethylated) and 2.8 × 10 [4] (methylated). |
