| Research Background | MPL proto-oncogene, thrombopoietin receptor(MPL) Homo sapiens In 1990 an oncogene, v-mpl, was identified from the murine myeloproliferative leukemia virus that was capable of immortalizing bone marrow hematopoietic cells from different lineages.
