Angiogenesis related Compound Library

Catalog No. L4800

Angiogenesis is a normal and vital process in growth and development, as well as in wound healing and in the formation of granulation tissue. However, uncontrolled angiogenesis underlies many deadly and debilitating conditions, including cancer, skin diseases, immune disorders, diabetic ulcers, cardiovascular disease, stroke, critical limb ischemia, and many others. Therefore, angiogenesis has become an attractive target for combating diseases characterized by either poor vascularization or abnormal vasculature. For example, angiogenesis plays a critical role in the growth of cancer. Tumors induce blood vessel growth (angiogenesis) by secreting various growth factors (e.g. VEGF) and proteins which induce capillary growth into the tumor, providing it with oxygen and nutrients. Angiogenesis is also required for the spread of a tumor, or metastasis. Therefore, angiogenesis inhibitors can be used to treat cancer. In addition, proangiogenic therapies are being explored as options to treat ischemic cardiovascular diseases by formation of "natural bypasses"—that is, collateral vessels. The TargetMol's Angiogenesis related Compound Library, a unique collection of angiogenesis related compounds, can be used for research in angiogenesis and related drug discovery.
