4-Aminodiphenylamine is an amine-substituted diphenylamine derivative with industrial applications including hair dye formulations.
Description | 4-Aminodiphenylamine is an amine-substituted diphenylamine derivative with industrial applications including hair dye formulations. |
In vitro | Methods: The solvatochromic and orthotropic behaviors of 4-Aminodiphenylamine (4ADA) and 4,4'-diaminodiphenylamine (DADA) in ground and excited states in solvents of varying polarity and at varying acid and base concentrations were investigated using absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. Solvatochromic shifts were analyzed and the observed shifts were explained by hydrogen bonding interactions. Results: Orthotropic studies revealed that (i) the absorption maximum of the DADA monocation was red-shifted to its neutral form and (ii) the fluorescence of 4ADA was red-shifted upon protonation. The anomalous fluorescence of 4ADA+ was found to be due to the large solvent relaxation in polar media. [1] |
