| Description | 2,4-Hexadienal is a high purity biochemical reagent that can be used in research related to life sciences. |
| In vivo | In F344N rats and B6C3F1 mice, oral gavage of 2,4-Hexadienal (45–240 mg/kg, 16 days to 2 years) caused significant toxicity and carcinogenicity. At 240 mg/kg for 16 days, forestomach necrosis and ulceration were observed, and hyperplasia appeared at 80 mg/kg. After 14 weeks, 120 mg/kg induced forestomach hyperplasia and nasal olfactory epithelial necrosis. Long-term (2-year) exposure led to squamous cell papilloma and carcinoma in the forestomach of rats (45, 90 mg/kg) and mice (120 mg/kg), with oral squamous carcinoma also seen in two male mice. Mechanistic studies suggested tumorigenesis is related to oxidative stress and glutathione depletion[1]. |
