| Research Background | Vascular endothelial growth factor-D (VEGF-D) is a secreted glycoprotein that can activate VEGF receptors on the endothelium, is a mitogen for endothelial cells and promotes the growth and remodeling of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels. VEGF-D, as with other members of the VEGF family, falls within a structural superfamily of growth factors containing a cystine knot motif, which involves a highly distinctive clustered arrangement of three intrasubunit cystine bridges. |
