| Description | Furathiocarb is a carbamate precursor insecticide (insecticide) and a contact allergen. It is commonly used in studies related to contact allergies. Furathiocarb induces significant proliferation of MHCII-positive B cells in ear lymph node cells and prompts the generation of Th1 cell cytokines, such as IL-2, TNF-γ, and IFN-γ. However, it does not cause respiratory allergy in mice. After absorption through the excised rat abdomen skin, Furathiocarb is completely metabolized to carbofuran, with penetration increasing over time and dose. The skin penetration rates of Furathiocarb's emulsifiable concentrate (EC) and wettable powder (WP) formulations are higher than that of Furathiocarb itself, with no significant difference between the two formulations. |
| In vivo | Furathiocarb, when applied topically at concentrations of 0.1-3% once daily for three consecutive days, shows skin sensitizing activity in female CBA/Jn mice, with a positive local lymph node test observed at a 3% dose and an EC3 value of 1.08%. In female BALB/c mice, furathiocarb, administered for sensitization via topical application (1%) and for challenge via intratracheal instillation (0.01-0.1%), over sensitization periods of days 1-3, 8-10, and 15-17, with a single challenge dose on day 31, does not significantly activate Th2 in lung-draining lymph nodes nor does it induce respiratory allergen immune characteristics. |
