Verified Activity | 1. Paraformaldehyde-fixed, paraffin embedded Human Spleen; Antigen retrieval by boiling in sodium citrate buffer (pH6.0) for 15 min; Antibody incubation with CD36 Polyclonal Antibody, Unconjugated (TMAB-00359) at 1:200 overnight at 4°C, followed by conjugation to the SP Kit (Rabbit) and DAB staining. 2. Paraformaldehyde-fixed, paraffin embedded Human Heart; Antigen retrieval by boiling in sodium citrate buffer (pH6.0) for 15 min; Antibody incubation with CD36 Polyclonal Antibody, Unconjugated (TMAB-00359) at 1:200 overnight at 4°C, followed by conjugation to the SP Kit (Rabbit) and DAB staining. 3. 25 μg total protein per Lane of various lysates probed with CD36 polyclonal antibody, unconjugated (TMAB-00359) at 1:1000 dilution and 4°C overnight incubation. Followed by conjugated secondary antibody incubation at RT for 60 min. 4. The U937 (H) cells were incubated in 5% BSA to block non-specific protein-protein interactions (30 min at room temperature). Primary Antibody (green): Rabbit Anti-CD36 antibody (TMAB-00359): 1 μg/10^6 cells; Secondary Antibody (white blue): Goat anti-Rabbit IgG-FITC: 1 μg/test. Isotype Control (orange): Rabbit IgG. Blank control (black): PBS. |

Research Background | The protein encoded by this gene is the fourth major glycoprotein of the platelet surface and serves as a receptor for thrombospondin in platelets and various cell lines. Since thrombospondins are widely distributed proteins involved in a variety of adhesive processes, this protein may have important functions as a cell adhesion molecule. It binds to collagen, thrombospondin, anionic phospholipids and oxidized LDL. It directly mediates cytoadherence of Plasmodium falciparum parasitized erythrocytes and it binds long chain fatty acids and may function in the transport and/or as a regulator of fatty acid transport.
