| Research Background | Teclistamab, also known as Tecvayli, is a therapeutic monoclonal antibody specifically designed to address relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma. It is a bispecific antibody that effectively targets both the CD3 receptor found on T-cells and the B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) expressed on malignant multiple myeloma B-lineage cells. Teclistamab is composed of two arms, one targeting BCMA and the other targeting CD3. These arms are connected by two interchain disulfide bonds, enabling the drug to engage CD3-expressing T cells and direct them towards BCMA-expressing cells. This mechanism facilitates T cell-mediated cytotoxicity to combat the targeted cells. |
