| Verified Activity | 1. Western blot analysis of CDH11 on MCF-7 (1), Jurkat (2) and HEK293 (3) cell lysate using anti-CDH11 antibody at 1/1,000 dilution. 2. Immunohistochemical analysis of paraffin-embedded human bladder cancer tissue using anti-CDH11 antibody. Counter stained with hematoxylin. 3. ICC staining CDH11 (green) and Actin filaments (red) in HL-7702 cells. The nuclear counter stain is DAPI (blue). Cells were fixed in paraformaldehyde, permeabilised with 0.25% Triton X100/PBS. 4. | Research Background | This gene encodes a type II classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily, integral membrane proteins that mediate calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. Mature cadherin proteins are composed of a large N-terminal extracellular domain, a single membrane-spanning domain, and a small, highly conserved C-terminal cytoplasmic domain. Type II (atypical) cadherins are defined based on their lack of a HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence specific to type I cadherins. Expression of this particular cadherin in osteoblastic cell lines, and its upregulation during differentiation, suggests a specific function in bone development and maintenance. |
