chitosanase

Chitosanase is a glycoside hydrolase that catalyzes the endohydrolysis of β-1,4-glycosidic bonds in partially acetylated chitosan, releasing chitooligosaccharides (COS). It transforms high molecular weight chitosan into low molecular weight functional chitooligosaccharides.

Chimax-O (Endo-chitosanase) is an enzyme of the GH46 family that catalyzes chitosan substrates to produce chitobiose and D-glucosamine (GlcN). It acts through a random endo mechanism to generate chitosan derivatives with varying degrees of polymerization (DP) ≤2.

Chimax-G (FungalEndo- and Exo- chitosanases) is a biocatalyst and a crucial enzyme in new biocatalyst technology. Enzyme engineering focuses on improving enzyme reaction kinetics, substrate selectivity, and activity under extreme conditions (e.g., low or high pH). By incorporating stimuli-responsive modifications, it is also possible to dynamically control activity.
