Diminazene is an aromatic diamine compound primarily used to control trypanosomiasis. It mainly binds to the kDNA of trypanosomes, disrupting their replication process. Diminazene is being investigated for new pharmacological applications, such as an activator of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), and has potential uses in antihypertension, anti-rheumatoid arthritis, and immunoregulation.
